Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) is a large not-for-profit organization with its national headquarters located in Long Beach, California. For nearly 50 years, RHF has developed, provided and managed housing and services for older adults, low-income families, and persons with disabilities in 24 states throughout the United States, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U. S. Virgin Islands.
RHF seeks a Director of Fund Development for its Long Beach, California national headquarters. The Director of Fund Development manages the Fund Development department which is responsible for the cultivation of major gifts through annual giving; capital giving, planned giving; grants, stewardship, and RHF community fundraising.
Summary of Duties:
- Manage the RHF Circle of Friends planned giving program, increase donor acquisition, community visits and presentations to interested donors; process and maintain gift status of charitable gift annuities and bequests, and steward planned giving donors.
- Cultivate contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations for annual giving and major gifts for fund accounts, toy drive, etc. Solicit sponsors for groundbreaking, dedications, etc. Increase donor levels and donor acquisitions.
- Responsible for submitting grant proposals to foundations and corporations including research and tracking.
- Assist community managers and administrators with their fund development activities on an as needed basis.
- Direct and supervise Donor Stewardship, Department mailings-lists and pieces, Social Accountability program, and Toy drive.
- Manage the Resident Benevolent Fund and the Children’s Education Fund-application process, committee memos, oversee accounting and follow-up on grants and Loan Program.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required and CFRE preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of successful and progressive experience in fund development, fund raising, planned giving and grants management. Ability in annual giving, capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving, as well as grant procurement.
- Strong writing, analytic and organizational skills.
- Work collegially with management team.
Computer knowledge: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Sage Donor Database and desktop publishing, i.e., Adobe, Pagemaker and InDesign.
