Emily Hidalgo
Crescent Manor/Mesquite Gardens
Mesquite, Texas

Regional Manager Thuy Hoang writes that Emily has been manager of both Crescent Manor and Mesquite Gardens, simultaneously, for almost ten years. With the buildings located directly across from each other, she is able to devote equal time and effort towards each community. She has a great understanding of maintenance and expects a high standard of quality work from her maintenance staff, which is reflected in their Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) scores.

With HUD’s approval, she used over $75,000 to make building improvements to Crescent Manor and over $60,000 for improvements to Mesquite Gardens. This included updating furniture, painting, and decorating of community rooms and common areas, surveillance cameras, updating automated entry doors, and replacing appliances and carpeting in apartments.

Emily consistently maintains full occupancy and healthy waiting lists. Recent resident satisfaction surveys resulted in 96% satisfaction at Crescent Manor and 93% at Mesquite Gardens.

Emily is currently pursuing her certification as an Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) through the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).  Her leadership is reflected in her extensive knowledge of RHF’s ACS software, which has made her a “super user” and the go-to person among her peers when assistance is needed to resolve an issue. She travels to assist in the training of newly-hired managers and also offers phone support to them. She has also traveled to other communities to assist when there is a vacant position.

The President of the Mesquite Gardens Tenants’ Association writes, “Emily is the kind of manager anyone would want. She is easy to talk to and is always available if we need her.”

The President of the Crescent Manor Tenants’ Association says, “Emily’s management style is one of caring. She lives her Christian faith by the way she treats all the residents. This is not just a job, but a calling. Emily has a commitment to serve and care for people.”

RHF is pleased to recognize Emily Hidalgo as 2010 Manager of the Year.
