Recreation and Transportation
We are known as an active retirement community and everyday we strive to live up to that reputation. Our residents have the opportunity to continue growing in four major areas of life: physical, mental, social and spiritual. We have exercise programs which include our popular Stretch and Flex, Tai Chi and water exercise in our junior olympic-size, heated pool. The active lifestyle may include entertainers, educational speakers, dances, bible study, religious services, line dancing, or support groups such as our Parkinson group and our Learning, Living and Laughing Series.
Not a joiner? That's okay, too!
We also provide courteous, professional transportation enabling our residents to travel to numerous events in the surrounding community. Need to see a doctor? Our free transportation service gets you to your appointments in timely comfort. We have buses, cars and drivers ready and waiting.
We have four full-time recreation and activity directors who provide, or make arrangement for, services corresponding to the specific individual physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of our residents. For a comprehensive listing of monthly events in all four levels of care, go to our Calendar of Events link. Each level of care provides the same high quality recreation and activity services. For further questions on recreation or transportation you may call Bruce Kozak, Recreation Director at 386.226.9113.
Volunteerism
Our residents are deeply involved in helping their neighbors who live at Bishop's Glen and the surrounding community. We have approximately 100 volunteers living at Bishop's Glen who are involved in such events as Chapel, making garments for our "Project Hands" program and helping during our popular Friday Night programs. Altruism, or giving to others, makes Bishop's Glen one of the finest family-oriented communities in the Daytona Beach area.
