Assisted Living is a level of care, licensed by the State, that does just what the name implies...provides assistance to the resident with various daily activities.
It may be the resident needs help taking the proper medications at the right time. Or perhaps they need some help with bathing, or dressing, or toileting. Maybe scheduling doctor's appointments is a problem, or actually getting to the appointment on time. And sometimes it's nice to have someone just keep an eye on Mom or Dad throughout the day. Assisted Living is all of these things.
It is very important to understand that assisted living is not medical services. Assisted living does not provide medical treatments for wounds, serious infections, and various other medical conditions. Also, if a resident depends on others to perform all activities of daily living, they are not suitable for assisted living services.
