We consider ourselves to be a faith-based, mission-driven, national non-profit organization dedicated to helping meet the needs of persons in the areas of housing and services.
We believe that every person is created and loved by God, and should be treated with respect and love by others.
Retirement Housing Foundation was incorporated in 1961 by two clergy and a layman from the United Church of Christ (UCC) who wanted to provide quality housing and services for older adults. The mission has since expanded to include communities for persons with disabilities and limited income families.
Since our founding there have been 3 CEOs at RHF, and all have been ordained clergy of the UCC. It is mandated in our By-laws that a majority of the members of the RHF national board must be members of the UCC. RHF and our communities are recognized ministries of the UCC and are listed in the denomination's yearbook.
RHF is a member of the Council for Health and Human Service Ministries of the United Church of Christ (CHHSM). CHHSM is a community of leaders and organizations committed to advancing the healing and service ministry of Jesus Christ. Its 73 corporate members, all affiliated with the United Church of Christ, operate 363 communities and programs for children, youth, families, older adults and people with disabilities. CHHSM ministries range in size from small care centers to large hospital networks, but are bound together by a call to serve others in faith. Together, CHHSM represents the largest component of the UCC’s healing ministry, serving well over a million people annually.

We serve and employ without regard to religious affiliation but our faith-based roots are the motivation for our mission. We find that most religions share that basic belief and try to live by it. In a concrete way we are able to demonstrate this belief and our faith through our mission.
