Located in northern Harris County, Cornerstone Gardens is an affordable, older adult (62+) community with several apartments equipped to accommodate those who are mobility/sensory impaired. Our community is conveniently located close to a Post Office, shopping, churches, and medical facilities.

Our residents enjoy frequent parties, potluck suppers, and other social activities which are held in the community room. Our residents are active participants in RHF’s Project H.A.N.D.S.

A Social Service Coordinator is available for residents’ personal needs.

Pets are welcomed but require a deposit and there is size limitations.

Cornerstone Gardens is a smoke-free community.

What type of housing is Cornerstone Gardens? Is it low-income housing?

Cornerstone Gardens is a HUD-subsidized housing community for seniors 62 years or older. A resident of the community pays approximately 30% of their income as rent.

Who pays the remainder of the rent?

The remainder of the rent is paid in the form of a subsidy. If a resident qualifies for a subsidy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a U.S. government agency, will pay the remainder of the rent.

What does the rent include?

Monthly rental of the apartment, as well as water and sewer fees.

Is there a lease?

Yes, there is a one-year lease, but we understand the necessity of unanticipated move-outs.

How many apartments are there and how big are they?

Cornerstone Gardens has 64, one-bedroom units, approximately 540 sq. ft. in size.

How do I get started with the move-in process?

Simply fill out an application completely, sign it and mail it to the address on the back of the application.

Is there a waiting list for residency?

Yes, currently Cornerstone Gardens has a waiting list. Please call for the approximate waiting time.

What is the Security Deposit?

The Security Deposit is the same as one month’s full rent (before the electric allowance) with a minimum of $50. This deposit is due in full at the signing of the lease.

Do you allow pets? Is there a Pet Deposit?

Cornerstone Gardens welcomes your pet along with you.  Fish and birds are welcomed without a deposit.  We also welcome small dogs and cats with a pet deposit.  There is a limit of one cat/dog per apartment and there are certain size and breed restrictions.  The pet deposit is $150.00.  We can make payment arrangements for this deposit.  Beginning with $50 and then a monthly payment of $10 until the deposit is paid in full.

Is there additional storage space available?

There is no additional storage available.

Is there an elevator?

Yes, there is one elevator located in the center of the building easily accessible by all residents, on all floors.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is located around the building.

Are there any planned activities?

Cornerstone Gardens prints a monthly calendar and newsletter showing the dates and times of various activities. Activities include bingo, pot-luck meals, seasonal activities, church services, and knitting/sewing for our Project HANDS program.

Are there on-site laundry facilities?

There is one laundry center at Cornerstone Gardens that contains coin-operated washers and dryers with folding and hanging areas and a sink for the convenience of our residents. The laundry is located on the second floor.

Is there any public transportation available?

Yes, currently the city of Houston has a transit service called the Metro Lift. You must apply for this service through Metro Lift. Our on-site Service Coordinator can assist you in completing the application.
