Q: What type of housing is Farrfield Manor? Is it low income housing?
A: Farrfield Manor is a subsidized housing community for seniors 62 years of age and older.
Q: Who pays the remainder of rent?
A: The remainder of the rent is paid in the form of a subsidy. If a resident qualifies for a subsidy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a U.S. government agency, will pay the remainder of the rent.
Q: How is rent calculated?
A: Resident rent is based on approximately 30% of your adjusted income after medical expenses.
Q: What does the rent include?
A: Your monthly rental payment is the total Tenant Payment as determined by HUD minus the allowable electric allowance. The Tenant Payment pays for the apartment, water, monthly pest control, trash service & sewer.
Q: Is there a lease?
A: You will sign a 12-month lease that requires a written 30-day notice to terminate.
Q: How many apartments are there?
A: Farrfield Manor offers 74 apartment homes.
Q: How big are the apartments?
A: Our apartment homes are 550 Sq Feet with the bedroom and the living room averaging each at 12×12.
Q: How do I get started with the move in process?
A: Simply fill out an application completely, sign it and mail it to the address on the back of the application.
Q: Is there a waiting list for residency?
A: Yes, currently Farrfield Manor has a waiting list. Please call for the approximate waiting time.
Q: What is the Security Deposit?
A: The security deposit is the Total Tenant Payment as determined by HUD.
Q: Do you allow pets?
A: Farrfield Manor welcomes you to bring your pets along with you. Fish and birds are welcomed without a deposit. We also welcome small dogs and cats with a pet deposit. There is a limit of one animal (cat or dog) per apartment and there are certain size and breed restrictions.
Q: What is the Pet Deposit?
A: Farrfield Manor Pet Deposit is $150.00 and is refundable if no damage is incurred by the pet.
Q: Is there additional storage space available?
A: There is no additional storage; however, each style of apartment offers a large amount of storage space.
Q: Is there an elevator?
A: Farrfield Manor offers two (2) elevators, a passenger elevator and a freight elevator for your convenience.
Q: Is parking available?
A: Yes, Farrfield Manor offers its residents ample first come first serve parking.
Q: What is the cost of parking?
A: There is no cost for parking.
Q: How many keys do I receive?
A: Each Leaseholder will receive a Control Access Key Fob, a mail key and apartment key.
Q: Are there any planned activities?
A: Farrfield Manor prints a monthly calendar showing the dates and times of various activities. Monthly activities include bingo, cards games, board games, pot-luck meals, seasonal activities such as gardening, and knitting/sewing for our Project HANDS program. There is also a craft room for various crafting projects.
Q: Are there on-site laundry facilities?
A: Farrfield Manor offers 6 Maytag washer and 6 Maytag dryers (runtime is 60 minutes) for your use. All machines are coin operated and cost $1.25 each.
Q: What is the garbage/recycling process?
A: There is a garbage center on each floor at each end of the building specifically for garbage/recycling purposes. Inside, there is a chute to dispose of trash directly into a dumpster. There are labeled bins for all recyclables.
Q: Is there any public transportation available?
A: No, at this time Farrfield Manor does not offer transportation. We are on the Columbus Metra Transit system and residents who qualify can submit an application to the Metra Transit System Dial-A-Ride program.
