Lake Ella Manor is a lovely six-story building surrounded by Sable and Sego palm trees. This 72-unit, older adult community is close to grocery stores, restaurants, a Post Office, drug stores, and the Tallahassee Mall. The Senior Center is right next door.
The Senior Shuttle, taxis and public buses are all conveniently available to help you explore the capital city of Florida and its many interesting attractions.
Our residents are active participants in RHF’s Project H.A.N.D.S.

What type of housing is Lake Ella Manor?
Lake Ella Manor is a subsidized housing community for seniors over the age of 62 with a few apartments for people who are mobility/sensory impaired. The term “subsidized housing” means that the rent is based on income. A resident of the community pays approximately 30% of their income as rent.
Who pays the remainder of rent?
The remainder of the rent is paid in the form of a subsidy. If a resident qualifies for a subsidy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a U.S. government agency, will pay the remainder of the rent.
How is rent calculated?
Resident rent is based on approximately 30% of income. A good estimate of your rent would be to take 30% of your gross annual income and divide it by 12 months. This will give you an estimate of what your monthly rent could be.
What does the rent include?
Monthly rental of the apartment, as well as heat, water and an electric allowance. An electric allowance is a certain amount taken off of the resident’s rent payment meant to help the resident pay the electric bill. The allowance amount is based on average usage for the apartment and may change annually. Residents will still receive an electric bill, but the allowance is intended to help pay for it. Residents may still be eligible for energy assistance from the state.
Is there a lease?
Yes, there is a one-year lease, but we understand the necessity of unanticipated move-outs.

Lake Ella Manor has 72 apartments.
How big are the apartments?
Lake Ella Manor offers spacious studio and one-bedroom apartments, as well as a few more-accessible apartments for the sensory/mobility impaired. Studio apartments are approximately 468 square feet and one-bedroom apartments and accessible apartments are approximately 520 square feet.
How do I apply for an apartment?
Simply fill out an application completely, sign it and mail it to the address on the back of the application.
Is there a waiting list for residency?
Yes, currently Lake Ella Manor has a waiting list. Please call 850-224-1341 for the approximate waiting time.
What is the Security Deposit?
The Security Deposit is the same as one month’s full rent (before the electric allowance) with a minimum of $50. This deposit is due in full at the signing of the lease.
Do you allow pets?
Lake Ella Manor welcomes you to bring your pets along with you. Fish and birds are welcomed without a deposit. We also welcome small dogs and cats with a pet deposit. There is a limit of one animal (cat or dog)per apartment and there are certain size and breed restrictions.
What is the Pet Deposit?
The pet deposit is $150.
Is there additional storage space available?
There is no additional storage available, however, each style of the apartment offers a large amount of storage space.
Is there an elevator?
Yes, there are two elevators located in the center of the building easily accessible by all residents, on all floors.
