What type of housing is Pinehurst Apartments? Is it low income housing?

Pinehurst Apartments is a subsidized housing community for seniors over the age of 62 and the mobility impaired. The term “subsidized housing” means that the rent is based on income. A resident of the community pays approximately 30% of their income as rent.

Who pays the remainder of rent?

The remainder of the rent is paid in the form of a subsidy. If a resident qualifies for a subsidy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a U.S. government agency, will pay the remainder of the rent.

How is rent calculated?

Resident rent is based on approximately 30% of income. A good estimate of your rent would be to take 30% of your gross annual income and divide it by 12 months. This will give you an estimate of what your monthly rent could be.

What does the rent include?

Monthly rental of the apartment, as well as water and an electric allowance. An electric allowance is a certain amount taken off of the resident’s rent payment meant to help the resident pay the electric bill. Residents will still receive an electric bill, but the allowance is intended to help pay for it. Residents may still be eligible for energy assistance from the state.

Is there a lease?

Yes, there is a one-year lease, but we understand the necessity of unanticipated move-outs.

How many apartments are there?

Pinehurst Apartments has 50 apartments.

How big are the apartments?

Pinehurst Apartments offers spacious studio and one-bedroom apartments, as well as a few more-accessible apartments for the mobility impaired. For square footage, studio apartments are approximately 410 square feet and one-bedroom apartments and accessible apartments are approximately 519 square feet.

How do I get started with the move-in process?

Simply fill out an application completely (there is no application fee), sign it and mail it to the address on the back of the application.

Is there a waiting list for residency?

Yes, currently Pinehurst Apartments has a waiting list. Please call for the approximate waiting time.

What is the Security Deposit?

The Security Deposit is the same as one month’s full rent (before the electric allowance) with a minimum of $50. This deposit is due in full at the signing of the lease.

Do you allow pets?

Pinehurst Apartments welcomes small dogs and cats with a pet deposit. There is a limit of one animal (cat or dog) per apartment and there are certain size and breed restrictions.

What is the Pet Deposit?

The pet deposit is $150. It can be made in installments with $50 up front and then $10 per month until paid in full.

Is there additional storage space available?

There is no additional storage available, however, each style of apartment offers a large amount of storage space.

Is there an elevator?

Yes, there are two elevators located in the center of the building easily accessible by all residents, on all floors.

Is parking available?

Yes, Pinehurst Apartments offers its residents the use of one parking lot.

What is the cost for parking?

There is no cost for parking.

How many keys do I receive?

Residents receive an apartment key, a key to a locked mailbox for their apartment, and an access key to the main entry. Our main entrances are intercom controlled and opens with a code.

Are there any planned activities?

Pinehurst Apartments prints a monthly calendar showing the dates and times of various activities. Monthly activities include bingo, card games, board games, and pot-luck meals. There is also a puzzle and craft room used daily for putting together puzzles and other various crafting projects.
