Q: What type of housing is Rio Vista Village? Is it low income housing?

A: Rio Vista Village is a Tax Credit Housing for Families. Tax Credit is a type of subsidy that is based on income established by the IRS. The resident of this community pays a set rent.

Q: What does the rent include?

A: Monthly rental of the apartment, as well as water and gas. There is also an allowance taken off of the resident’s rent payment meant to help the resident pay their electric bill.

Q: Is there a lease?

A: Yes, there is a one-year lease, but we understand the necessity of unanticipated move-outs.

Q: How many apartments are there?

A: Rio Vista Village has 75 apartments. Sixteen of these units are set aside for low income housing, subsidized by the Housing Authority.

Q: How big are the apartments?

A: Rio Vista Village’s two bedroom apartments have one bathroom, while their three- and four-bedroom apartments have two bathrooms.

Q: How do I get started with the move in process?

A: Simply fill out an application completely, sign it and mail it to the address on the back of the application.

Q: Is there a waiting list for residency?

A: Yes, currently Rio Vista Village has a waiting list. Please call for the approximate waiting time.

Q: What is the Security Deposit?

A: The Security Deposit is the same as one month’s full rent (before the electric allowance) with a minimum of $50. This deposit is due in full at the signing of the lease.

Q: Do you allow pets?

A: Rio Vista Village welcomes your fish and/or two birds without a deposit

Q: Is there additional storage space available?

A: There is no additional storage available, however, each style of apartment offers a large amount of storage space.

Q: Is there an elevator?

A: Yes, there are two elevators. One elevator is located in the front of the building and another at the back.

Q: Is parking available?

A: Yes, Rio Vista Village has an underground parking lot and parking in the front and to the rear of the building.

Q: What is the cost for parking?

A: There is no cost for parking.

Q: How many keys do I receive?

A: Residents receive an apartment key, a key to a locked mailbox for their apartment, and an access key to the main entry. Our main entrances are intercom controlled and automatically open with the key.

Q: Are there on-site laundry facilities?

A: There is one laundry center at Rio Vista Village. It contains ten coin operated washers and ten coin operated dryers with folding and a sink for the convenience of our residents. The laundry is located on the first floor.

Q: Are there any activities?

A: Yes, Rio Vista Village has a half-court basketball area and a playground for children. There is also barbeque areas for family enjoyment.

Q: Is there any public transportation available?

A: Yes, we are within 50 feet from the MTA stops that take residents to the market, doctor appointments, downtown, shopping, and various restaurants.

Q: Are there grocery stores nearby?

A: Yes, there is one within walking distance and a few more within a mile of our community.

Q: Is there a hospital nearby?

A: We are within a mile of hospitals and other medical facilities.

A: Yes, there are a number of fast food restaurants located behind our community.
